A Copy of my Support Letter for Nepal, 2011- We Still Need Help!

Dear Friends and Family,
I hope this letter finds you well! Some of you I haven’t seen for several months, since my family moved from Elko to Kingman, AZ. The last time you may have heard from me was last summer when I returned from a month-long mission trip to India. I was so excited, and honored, to be able to share my life-changing experience with you all, and humbled by the support I received. God truly did some incredible work in myself and my team while abroad. Upon returning I had the opportunity to spend a semester studying in Los Angeles. Needless to say, last year was an adventure! And now I am writing you about a new adventure the Lord dropped into my lap this semester.
Nepal.
This summer I will be spending two months in Kathmandu, Nepal, with two close friends, Kevin Jessup and Chris Chandler. Kevin, Chris and I will be volunteering at Tiny Hands International, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to fighting poverty and injustice through their child developmental programs and children’s homes. Tiny Hands also partners with churches in the fight against human trafficking. For more information, visit tinyhandsinternational.org
We also hope to volunteer at the Sisters of Charity homes in Kathmandu. Last year, my team volunteered for the Sisters of Charity in Kolkata, India. Though we were only able to stay in Kolkata for a few days, it was a life-altering time for me. I look forward to spending more time in Kathmandu, serving in similar ways.
This year’s trip is an opportunity I am extremely thankful to have. Besides the obvious reasons, God has already developed a heart for the Nepali culture in me. Darjeeling, where I spent two weeks serving with the Church last year, is populated mainly by Nepali people. Kevin was on my team last year, and we both fell in love with the incredible people of God we met there. Chris also has a heart for this part of the world: while Kevin and I were in India last year, Chris was in Kathmandu with a team of his own, working with Tiny Hands. The three of us are incredibly blessed to be able to foster this relationship over the summer of 2011.
Furthermore, I have the opportunity to foster a very specific relationship that Kevin and I both made in Darjeeling last year. SuLee, our host in Darjeeling, lives in Kathmandu full time. SuLee was such an important part of our trip last year! Kevin and I will be beyond blessed to see him again and meet his wife, Usha.
I am writing to ask you first and foremost for prayer. Kevin, Chris, and I want to start and finish our time in Kathmandu with the right hearts, continually led by the Spirit of the Lord and walking in His love. We want to be a blessing to those we encounter, and avoid pushing our own agenda in a culture that is still very foreign to us. We also need prayer for continued unity. I am so privileged to serve with these two awesome men! Please pray that nothing comes between our friendship and cooperation with each other.
I am also writing to ask for financial support. My individual cost will be just under $3000. A small amount will go a long way in helping us get to Nepal! I have enclosed a green card with giving information, upon which you can indicate how much you would like to give. The name of our team is Nepal-Resource. Please make checks payable to Azusa Pacific University, not me, in order to receive a tax deductible receipt.
Or you can donate online! At www.apualumni.com/owmgive
If you have any questions or want to hear more about the trip, please feel free to contact me at sarahfaeth@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from each of you and sharing more about this opportunity! Thank you so much for your continuing support!

Being Human and Alive.

My eyes turn fiercely green when I cry. Perhaps it’s because my tears, as an expression of my humanity, indeed make me more alive than when I do not cry.
Humanity, in humans, is incurable. It is irreversible. And it is good. God said, “It is good.”
May every unabashed display of our humanity, in laughter, in tears, in screams of fury, be an act of worship to the Creator who made us that way, as portraits of his own beautiful complexity.
Amen.
